Florian Heinrich received the Karl Heinz Hoehne Award for his work in the field of medical augmented reality visualization. Two articles published in the journal “IEEE Transaction on Visualization and Computer Graphics” were considered. The combination of the articles allows for an evidence-based recommendation on which AR display and visualization concept to use for navigated needle insertion tasks.
The Karl-Heinz Hoehne Award recognizes innovative contributions with a methodological focus on computational visualistics and a clear link to medical and/or biological research topics. The prize is awarded every two years by the “Visual Computing in Biology and Medicine” section of the Gesellschaft für Informatik and is sponsored by Brainlab AG, Munich.
