Short Bio

I am a senior researcher and lecturer with a passion for medical devices, human-machine systems, and XR (in no particular order). My background zigzags across multiple engineering disciplines with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, a Master's and industry experience in Human Factors, and a Doctorate in Computer Science. This gives me a holistic and in-depth view of complex human-machine systems. It allows me to develop a methodologically sound and empathetic understanding of the users' perspectives and needs, as well as a profound understanding of the technical systems' side. Within the VAR group and the Research Campus STIMULATE, I assume teaching responsibilities in the field of human-computer interaction and conduct research in the broader field of human-computer interaction in medical settings.

I am interested in complex human-computer systems in medical and other high-risk use environments. My current research focuses are:

  • XR for facilitating medical human-robot interaction
  • Effective and efficient use of XR for usability engineering and UX research
  • Interactive navigation visualisations in image-guided needle interventions
