Christian Hansen Begins Junior Professorship at Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg

On September 1, 2013, Dr. Christian Hansen moved to the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg. There, he takes the role of junior professor for computer-assisted surgery at the Institute for Simulation and Graphics in the Department of Computer Science at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg as part of STIMULATE, the new research campus for medical technology.

STIMULATE stands for Solution Centre for Image Guided Local Therapies. In the future, technologies will be developed here for image-guided minimally invasive methods for medicine. The center will focus on important diseases in the fields of oncology and neurology as well as cardiovascular diseases.

In the last seven years, Hansen worked at Fraunhofer MEVIS in various fields of research and development. One of his major topics was image-guided liver surgery. In 2012, he completed his doctoral dissertation entitled “Software Assistance for Preoperative Risk Assessment and Intraoperative Support in Liver Resection Surgery” at Jacobs University in Bremen.
